Getting Started

Understanding the 360° feedback process

What is a 360° Assessment?

A 360° assessment gathers feedback about an individual (the interviewee) from multiple perspectives — their managers, peers, direct reports, clients, and even from themselves. This multi-source feedback provides a comprehensive view of performance, strengths, and development areas.

Company Configuration

Setting up your organisation before creating assessments

Accessing Company Settings

Before creating your first assessment, you should configure your company settings. Navigate to:

DashboardCompany Settings

Or click Company Settings from the Assessment Dashboard, or access it from the dropdown menu under Company Admin.

What you can configure:
Company Name

Your organisation's name as it will appear on assessments and reports.

Company Details

Contact information and organisational details for your company profile.

Creating an Assessment

Setting up a new 360° feedback campaign

Starting a New Assessment

From the 360° Assessment Dashboard, click the New Assessment button in the top right corner.

Dashboard → New Assessment button
Assessment Details

Fill in the following information:

Assessment Name
Give your assessment a clear, descriptive name (e.g., "Q1 2026 Leadership 360", "Annual Management Review"). This name will be visible to participants.
Description
Add an optional description explaining the purpose or scope of this assessment. This helps keep things organised if you run multiple assessments.
Your assessment starts in Draft status. You can take your time setting everything up before launching.

Assessment Dashboard Overview

Once created, your assessment appears as a card on the Dashboard showing:

Status

Draft, Active, Closed, or Completed

Participants

Total number of people added

Interviewees

How many are being assessed

Deadline

Due date if you've set one

Each assessment card has quick-action buttons:

Setup — Manage participantsProgress — View completion ratesSurveys — Edit questions

Managing Participants

Adding the people who will be involved in the assessment

Uploading Participants via CSV

The quickest way to add many participants is by uploading a CSV file. From the assessment's Participant Setup page, use the CSV upload panel on the left.

CSV File Format

Your CSV file should contain the following columns:

ColumnRequiredDescription
firstNameParticipant's first name
lastNameParticipant's last name
emailValid email address for sending invitations
positionJob title or role (optional but recommended)
Example CSV
firstName,lastName,email,position
Jane,Smith,jane.smith@company.com,Marketing Director
John,Doe,john.doe@company.com,Sales Manager
Alice,Johnson,alice.j@company.com,HR Business Partner
Bob,Williams,bob.w@company.com,Software Engineer
Make sure emails are correct — invitations will be sent to these addresses. Duplicate emails will be flagged automatically.

Adding Participants Manually

If you only have a few people to add, or need to add someone after the initial upload, use the manual entry form:

  1. Fill in the participant's first name, last name, email, and optionally their position.
  2. Click Add Participant.
  3. The person will immediately appear in the participants table on the right.

The Participants Table

The right side of the setup page shows all your participants in a table with:

  • Name & Email — displays the participant's full name and contact
  • Position — their role in the organisation
  • Interviewee Toggle — a switch to designate this person as someone who will be assessed (see next section)
  • Actions — edit or delete the participant
Editing Participants: Click the edit icon next to any participant to update their name, email, or position. Changes are saved immediately.

Interviewees & Rater Groups

Configuring who gets assessed and by whom

Designating Interviewees

An interviewee is a participant who will be the subject of 360° feedback. Not everyone needs to be an interviewee — some participants may only serve as raters.

To designate someone as an interviewee:

  1. Go to the Participants page for your assessment.
  2. Find the person in the participants table.
  3. Toggle the Interviewee switch to ON (green).
  4. The person will now appear in the Interviewee Summary section below the table.
You can toggle interviewee status on and off at any time before launching the assessment.

Understanding Rater Categories

Each interviewee can receive feedback from five different rater categories. This multi-perspective approach is what makes 360° feedback so powerful.

Managers

People who supervise or manage the interviewee. Typically their direct line manager or skip-level managers.

Peers

Colleagues at a similar level who work alongside the interviewee. They provide a lateral perspective.

Direct Reports

People who report directly to the interviewee. They offer valuable "upward" feedback on leadership style.

Clients / Stakeholders

Internal or external clients and stakeholders who interact with the interviewee regularly.

Self-Assessment

The interviewee rates themselves. This allows comparison between self-perception and others' feedback.

Assigning Raters to an Interviewee

Click on an interviewee's name in the Interviewee Summary table, or click the Setup button. This takes you to the Interviewee Setup page.

On the Interviewee Setup Page:
  1. You'll see the interviewee's details at the top along with a summary of currently assigned raters.
  2. Below you will find the five rater categories, each with its own panel.
  3. For each category, select participants from the available list and click Add to assign them as raters.
  4. To remove a rater, click the Remove button next to their name.
Pro Tip: For the most balanced feedback, aim for 3–5 raters per category. The self-assessment category should only contain the interviewee themselves.
A participant can be a rater for multiple interviewees, and an interviewee can also be a rater for other interviewees. This is normal and expected.

Survey & Question Management

Customising the questions raters will answer

Survey Structure

Surveys in NorthBridge360 use a hierarchical structure designed around behavioural science best practices:

Meta-Dimensions

The broadest groupings of competencies (e.g., "Leadership", "Communication", "Strategic Thinking"). These are the top-level categories in your survey.

Competencies

Specific competency areas within each meta-dimension (e.g., under "Leadership": "Vision Setting", "Team Empowerment", "Decision Making").

Traits

Observable qualities within each competency (e.g., under "Vision Setting": "Articulates clear goals", "Inspires with a compelling future vision").

Items (Questions)

The actual survey questions that raters will answer, tied to specific traits. Each item is scored on a 1–5 scale.

Accessing the Survey Manager

From your assessment card on the Dashboard, click Surveys, or navigate from the participants page using the top navigation links.

The Survey Manager shows:
  • A list of all surveys associated with your assessment
  • The number of dimensions, competencies, and questions in each
  • Quick access to edit any survey

Editing Survey Questions

Click on a survey to open the Survey Editor. Here you can:

Edit Questions

Modify the text of any existing question to better suit your organisation's context and terminology.

Add Questions

Add new questions to any trait within the survey structure.

AI-Generated Questions

Use the Suggest Question feature to let AI generate contextually relevant questions based on the trait and competency.

Regenerate Questions

Not happy with a question? Use Regenerate to get a fresh AI-generated alternative.

Questions are scored on a 1 to 5 scale (Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree), with an optional "Not Observed" choice. Raters can also add comments to individual questions.

Best Practices for Survey Questions

Do
  • Use clear, specific, behavioural language
  • Focus on observable actions, not personality
  • Keep questions concise (one idea per question)
  • Use language appropriate to your organisation
  • Aim for 30–50 total questions for a balanced survey
Don't
  • Ask double-barrelled questions (two ideas in one)
  • Use jargon that some raters may not understand
  • Make questions too vague or abstract
  • Include more than 60 questions (survey fatigue)
  • Use leading or biased language

Launching & Sending Invitations

Going live with your assessment

Pre-Launch Checklist

Before launching your assessment, make sure everything is in order:

All participants have been added with correct email addresses
Interviewees have been designated
Each interviewee has raters assigned across relevant categories
Survey questions have been reviewed and customised
A deadline has been set (optional but recommended)

Launching the Assessment

When you're ready, click the Launch Assessment button on the Progress page. This changes the assessment status from Draft to Active.

Once launched, the assessment is live. You can still add participants and raters, but the core survey structure should be finalised before launch.
What Happens When You Launch:
  1. The assessment status changes to Active.
  2. The survey becomes available for raters to complete.
  3. You can now send email invitations to all assigned raters.

Sending Invitations

After launching, click Send Invitations to email all raters. Each rater receives a personalised email containing:

  • A unique, secure access link to their survey
  • The name of the interviewee they are rating
  • Their rater category (peer, manager, etc.)
  • The deadline (if set)
Raters do not need to create an account — the unique link in the email gives them direct, secure access to complete their survey.

Sending Reminders

Responses slowing down? Use the Send Reminders button to nudge raters who haven't yet completed their surveys.

  • Reminders are only sent to raters who have not yet completed their survey
  • Already-completed raters will not be bothered
  • You can send reminders multiple times
Pro Tip: Send a reminder about 3–5 days before the deadline, and another on the day of the deadline for maximum response rates.

Tracking Progress

Monitoring response rates and completion

The Progress Dashboard

Click Progress on any assessment card to see a comprehensive overview of how the assessment is going.

What You'll See:
Overall Completion

Percentage of all surveys completed across all interviewees.

Per-Interviewee Breakdown

See how many raters have responded for each interviewee.

Per-Category Status

Completion rates by rater category (managers, peers, etc.).

Individual Interviewee Progress

Click on any interviewee to see their detailed progress page, which shows:

  • Which specific raters have completed, started, or not begun their surveys
  • Completion percentage per rater category
  • Overall feedback collection status
Use this individual view to identify specific bottlenecks — for example, if no managers have responded for a particular interviewee.

Analysis & Reports

Turning feedback data into actionable insights

Accessing Analysis

From the interviewee progress page, click View Analysis to see the full results for that individual.

The Analysis Page Shows:
Dimension Scores

Average scores across each meta-dimension, broken down by rater category. See at a glance where an interviewee excels and where they can develop.

Competency Breakdown

Detailed scores for each competency, showing the spread of ratings from different perspectives.

Self vs Others Comparison

Compare the interviewee's self-assessment against how others rated them. Large gaps indicate blind spots or hidden strengths.

Written Comments

All qualitative feedback from raters, organised by question. Comments are anonymous to encourage honest feedback.

AI-Powered Reports

NorthBridge360 can generate comprehensive, narrative feedback reports using AI. Click Generate AI Report on an interviewee's analysis page.

The AI Report Includes:
  • Executive Summary — A high-level overview of feedback themes and overall performance
  • Key Strengths — Areas where the interviewee is rated highly across multiple rater groups
  • Development Areas — Competencies where improvement is indicated by the data
  • Blind Spots — Significant differences between self-ratings and others' ratings
  • Actionable Recommendations — Specific, practical suggestions for professional development
AI reports are generated fresh each time, using the latest response data. You can regenerate a report if new responses come in after the initial generation.
Best Practice: Wait until you have at least 80% response completion before generating analysis reports, to ensure the data is representative and meaningful.
